The Evolution Philosophy
-
This is more than a business- this is a calling steeped in passion and purpose.
-
We understand our personal well being is inextricably linked with our environment and community.
-
We explore health and wellness through movement, music, play and healing arts.
-
We infuse our work with these values: connection, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
-
We show up day in and day out, to nourish, to inspire and to cultivate a healthier community through healing and artistic expression
When one door closes, another opens
Twenty one years ago, Evolution studio opened on the back side of the American Tin Cannery. For over two decades, we offered classes, events, concerts, workshops, trainings, dances, and healing arts—a kaleidoscope of experiences to nourish, heal, and celebrate life.We started as a fitness and core training studio, but I evolved with experience, challenges, and my own multilayered inquiry about what it is to be embodied. From Acroyoga, to a Rumi circus, to song circles, sound baths, and Modern Animal dance labs, EVOLUTION studio provided a safe, open, and playful space to explore. We had kids practicing Thai massage on their parents. We hosted a salon series of concerts featuring musicians from Africa, Hungary, across the US, and our local community. We were a pick up location for a local CSA. We danced right in the street during COVID. We didn't just endure; we shined.
One of my core values as a professional is collaboration. For me to grow and expand, I need to learn from other gifted and creative people in my fields, so I invited them into the studio to share their offerings all along the way. This space served as an incubator and launch pad for several colleagues who have since created their own projects that now flourish in our community.
I also feel proud of how this space has held many people as they faced health challenges, both physical and emotional, and even their own mortality. Being present, offering skills and witness has been my ongoing training in this evolving career. The studio has given me a platform to teach and to learn, and I will miss it deeply. But when one door closes, another beckons us to open it and expand what is possible for ourselves and how we show up for this life. Stay tuned for the next chapter in my evolution; I will invite you along to share the journey.
